Stacie’s treatment philosophy:
•A collaborative, one-on-one working relationship between therapist and client is the primary vehicle for healing.

•Each individual already possesses the compass inside them for change and forward motion. Even if you don’t feel that compass right now; it’s there and we’ll find it.
•The primary role of the therapist is to facilitate each client’s exploration of their own inherent strengths and assist the client in moving toward the life they want.

Alicia Steckler, M.Ed, LMHC

Alicia Steckler, M.Ed, LMHC

Alicia Steckler, M.Ed, LMHC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State. She is designated as a Mental Health Professional, Child Mental Health Specialist, and is a National Certified Counselor. Her professional membership includes Chi Sigma Iota and National Board for Certified Counselors, with a certification in providing Trauma-Focused, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. She graduated from University of Washington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences, with a Psychology focus. She then obtained her Master’s Degree in Community Counseling, from Seattle University.

In addition to being in private practice, she works in Child & Family Services at Good Samaritan Behavioral Health, a reputable mental health agency. Alicia has worked in mental health settings since 2007 including outpatient community clinics and an inpatient children’s psychiatric hospital, providing intensive treatment for youth and families in crisis. She's experienced in counseling children and adults, providing play therapy, individual, family and group therapy. This has included working extensively with parents on positive parenting strategies in order to strengthen their parent-child relationship and find solutions to problem behavior.

It's helpful to use a strength-based, client-centered approach, as well as structural family therapy when involving the family system. Additional theories used are reality and cognitive-behavioral therapy, depending on the presenting problem and client need. Individuals are not defined by their past, but who they are in the moment; however there are times when prior experiences impact current relationships. Therapy can help individuals accept responsibility, gain self- awareness, and make choices that will lead to inner peace.

Having worked with families in crisis has made her a strong clinician who is well-prepared. She enjoys being challenged, and empowering people to fight for healthier, happier lives. Also, providing trauma focused treatment has been rewarding because she's witnessed how it allows people to move through pain.

For more information you can email Alicia at Alicia.steckler@gmail.com, go to her website at www.aliciastecklercounseling.com or call her at the office at 253-858-2224 ext 226. E. Katie Bradrick MA, LMHC, Clinical Supervisor

E. Katie Bradrick MA, LMHC, Clinical Supervisor

E. Katie Bradrick, MA, LMHC is a licensed mental health counselor and clinical supervisor in Washington State. She graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology.

Before joining The Shepherd’s Center for Psychological Services, Katie worked as a Clinical Therapist on the Adolescent and Youth Unit at Fairfax Hospital providing individual, group and family therapy as well as extensive Case management and consultation between other therapists, psychiatrists, case managers, schools, and the legal system. Katie has also worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator and Rater at Eastside Therapeutic Resource in Kirkland, Washington providing extensive clinical assessment, diagnosis and therapy for children, adolescents and adults struggling with acute mental health indications including ADHD, Depression, Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia.

The theoretical orientations guiding Katie’s therapy include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Developmental Theory, Motivational Interviewing, Solution - Focused Therapy and Narrative as well as her Christian Principles. Katie has found that there is no “one size fits all” approach to true change. What may work for one person may not work for another, so Katie works in collaboration with each client and family to develop a treatment plan based on their unique, individual needs, desires and strengths.

Katie specializes in the treatment of adolescents but also treats children, young adults, and their families. She is experienced with a variety of struggles and issues that children, adolescents and young adults encounter including Depression, Mood Disorders, ADHD, Trauma, Anxiety, Behavioral issues, Anger management, Parenting, Communication/Conflict resolution, Family relationship issues , Social skills, Self Esteem and Self harming behaviors.

“Counseling is such a unique experience for each person. It can be the one place where one finds the support, encouragement, insight and empowerment to make the changes needed to begin living the kind of life truly desired.”

Katie’s hope is that she can be part of the orchestra of change in your life and help guide you amongst others to leave behind the behaviors and discouragement that keep you “trapped” and into a life that provides more contentment.
