After graduating with my BS and MS in Applied Psychology at Eastern Washington University, in 2003, I returned to the PNW, a place that I called home. I have been involved in different aspects of Mental Health Counseling, experiences that were valuable to my professional development. Some areas of experience inculde crisis intervention, relative placement, child therapy, infant mental health and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I feel lucky to have had these experiences and look forward to continuing to grow my private practice in the downtown area working with adolescents and adults who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, transitional issues, PMAD and life therapy.
I attend regular workshops and trainings as well as consultations with other professionals in the area to continue to develop skills and to remain updated on current mental health topics and issues that are relevant today. I have attended regular trainings as well as recently completing the PSI and 2020 Mom Professional Maternal Mental Health Certificate Training in July of 2017, and am currently working toward perinatal infant loss certification. I feel that to be a well rounded therapist for mothers, it is also important to have education surrounding birth education and have completed doula education as well. As a Perinatal Support of Washington provider, it is imperative that therapists commit to ongoing education to continue to offer quality services to their clients. That is my comittment.
Most recently I have agreed to the role of Washington State Climb Coordinator for Perinatal Support Washington, and am excited to promote and advocate awareness this June at our international climb. My involvement includes cirriculum development for consultation groups for PS-WA and advocacy, and applying for the Maternal Mental Health Certificate this year.
Picket Fence Therapy has been serving individuals since 2007. Along with our locations in Puyallup and Gig Harbor, Picket Fence Therapy is excited to include Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) to its specialties in the Puyallup area. After owning my own horse Freeway, I realized that there was a potential to reach clients through the healing nature of horses. Horses have great healing abilities for those struggling with anxiety, depression, developng self awareness and coping skills and strategies as well as for families/couples to develop relationship insights and communication skills. Certified to provide EAP, I have joined with Rustic Heart Ranch to offer services to individuals, families and couples. Through EAP, Picket Fence Therapy continues to offer services for women’s issues and the needs of adolescent girls in this specialized therapy.
