Stephen Coates-White

Stephen is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and counseling faculty member at a local 2-year college. In his private practice, Stephen works with works with adolescents (16+) and adults in addressing mental health and career/major related concerns.
Related to mental health, the therapeutic focus is on improving wellness and self-esteem. Stephen is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional & utilizes CBT and EMDR in helping individuals work through and resolve traumatic experiences. Stephen also uses his 28 year educational background to engage clients in discussions of meaning, growth, and achieving their potential. He utilizes narrative therapy since your story and life experiences are the lens with which you view and experience the world. He will listen to your concerns and help you explore solutions using a strengths-based model of care.
Related to career counseling, Stephen can help you explore your abilities, interests, skills, personality, and values. The goal of career counseling is to create space for self-exploration to fuel a decision-making process to increase your life satisfaction. Stephen uses a solution-focused approach, while also taking the time to evaluate you as a whole individual.
Stephen is a qualified interpreter of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Strong Interest Inventory and can arrange for you to complete these assessments as part of your career discernment. Stephen can also incorporate employment trends and labor market data to assist in your decision-making process.
