Sarah Farrell graduated from the University of Southern California and is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. She works with adolescents, adults, and couples from diverse backgrounds, seeking to use methods that are backed by research and strong evidence. She has experience treating a variety of clinical concerns, including anxiety, depression, attachment trauma, and eating disorders, among others. She is trained in a number of proven therapeutic interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and crisis intervention techniques. She is completing further training in emotionally focused therapy (EFT).
Sarah is trained to work from an eclectic theoretical background and primarily works from a foundation of psychodynamic and attachment-based theories, grounded in an understanding of interpersonal neurobiology. She seeks to be flexible in her therapeutic approach, checking in to determine what is working and what requires adjustment. Working from a strengths-based perspective, she will aid clients in building upon inherent strengths and resilience. She will collaborate with clients to clearly determine their personal goals for therapy.
Before working in private practice, Sarah worked with diverse clientele in a variety of capacities, including online through telehealth. She has experience in small medical clinics, in hospital rehabilitation units, hospice, home health, and community mental health settings. Most recently, prior to working in private practice, she worked as the executive director of a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
Sarah believes it to be the biggest honor to sit with people in their vulnerability, as she knows seeking counseling is not easy and the process can be painful. She believes it to be an honor and blessing to journey with people as they fight past everything telling them to give up and quit, choosing, instead, to live and learn to thrive again. That kind of full circle knowledge that things get better allows for hope that she can pass on to her clients.
