Richard Price, MA, LMFT

Richard is a professionally licensed therapist with a heart for people. His education and experience providing mental health care to individuals and couples have equipped him to effectively and compassionately address a wide variety of problems. Richard feels called to offer specialized care to suffering people, and by so doing to participate in the healing, transforming work of God. Richard takes a holistic approach to therapy, utilizing research-based practices to care for the physical, psychological, relational, and spiritual needs of each unique person.
Richard's experience has expanded and enriched his understanding of the diverse challenges people face and the processes that lead to lasting change. Richard integrates knowledge gleaned from a variety of therapeutic styles including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. However, he considers the most crucial element of treatment to be the relationship that is formed in the therapy room. His desire is to develop genuine, trusting relationships in order to awaken and inspire change. Richard often draws inspiration from Viktor Frankl’s Logotherapy, which focuses on healing through meaning in life.
Richard earned a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma. During his clinical practicum, he gained experience providing relational therapy to individuals and couples facing a variety of challenges at the Couple and Family Therapy Center in Parkland. He also worked in a community mental health setting at Nexus Youth and Families in Auburn, providing counseling to at-risk children, adolescents, and families before later transitioning into private practice. Richard also holds a Master of Arts from Norwich University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Mexico, and has completed advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Logotherapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
